There are dozens of ways to Get Involved with GOPA

Within your region/the Association:

  1. Host a fly-in (See new Guidelines in the Members Area)
  2. Interact with your Regional Coordinator, or other officers, voicing your questions, concerns, suggestions or recommendations
  3. Become an area manager or reach out to support your Regional Coordinator to see how you can help. It’s amazing what even an hour or two, here or there can do
  4. Volunteer to contact/welcome a new member in your region
  5. Donate to the Annual Scholarship Fund
  6. Become a PFP instructor or CFI for your region
  7. Serve on a GOPA committee (SPC, Communication, Type Club Collaboration, Scholarship, Video, “News hound”, etc.)
  8. Give short rides to people at fly-ins, conventions, and your local airports to introduce them to the wonders of flight that we all know so very well

Annual Meetings/Conventions

  1. Host an Annual Convention, serve on the Hosting Team, or become an Event Team Leader
  2. Sign up to host a Grumman Aerial Game (Rodeo Tie-down, Rigged Pre-flight, Wing Nut Toss, Broken Tow Bar, Precision Taxi, Spot Landing, Spot Parking, Flour Bombing, Grumman Limbo) or…
  3. Invent a new airplane game
  4. Volunteer your technical expertise as a Ground or Air Boss at an Annual Convention
  5. Take pictures and submit them to the Hosts/Organizers to be included in the Meeting Report, The Grumman International Star, or GrummanPilots.org

Outreach activities with Sister Societies or Relief Flights

  1. Host/speak at a GOPA Forum
  2. Staff a table at a Sister Society event (EAA, Sun N Fun, OshKosh, one of the many European events or our own fly-ins or Annual meetings)
  3. Volunteer as a “GOPA Ambassador/Greeter” at a Sister Society event
  4. Be a “roving reporter” to cover the event or take pictures and submit them to the Hosts/Organizers to be included in the Meeting Report, The International Grumman  Star, or GrummanPilots.org
  5. Take part in an emergency/relief flight by donating time, money, or flying
  6. Volunteer to give short rides to people at outreach events to demonstrate why we love Grummans

Contribute to The International Grumman Star or the website:

  1. Send in a picture
  2. Share a tip/hint
  3. Write an article
  4. Become a Grumman News Hound… If you see an interesting Grumman article, send the link to our ESC

Get the word out

  1. Leave a GOPA informational postcard or tri-fold or even your own business card with GrummanPilots.org written on the back, on the windscreen of a non-member Grumman
  2. Post a “mini-poster” at your local maintenance facility or FBO (Download/print from the Member’s “Get the Word Out” Library)
