National STOL Series Fly-in
Member Dennis Scalia is inviting GOPA members to Jennings, LA (3R7) for the first event of the 2024 National STOL Series on March 22-23.
Tickets for Saturday, the actual competition day can be purchased and hotels can be booked at https://nationalstol.com/swamp/.
For those flying in for the practice sessions on Friday, we have been invited to the competition's fly-in dinner at DI's Cajun Restaurant (LA52) at 6pm. The runway at LA52 is a private grass strip where the restaurant is located, but if you prefer to drive, it's only about 17 minutes from Jennings.
The two hotels listed on the website are within easy walking distance of the competition. Several other hotels are nearby. There is no Lyft or Uber locally, but Enterprise, (337-824-1101) is about 1.5 miles from the airport, however they will not deliver a car to the airport. Dennis can arrange to take you to pick up your car if needed. Several fast food restaurants are also nearby.
The STOL flying begins at 10:00 both Friday and Saturday and it would be best if you could be tied down by that time. There are some tiedown points in a grass parking area but it would be wise to bring your own stakes and ropes. Hard surface parking will be limited.
